What is Pacra?

Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) is a statutory entity, which is part of the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Industry.

This agency was established by the Patents and Companies Registration Agency Act and has continued to function under the new Patents and Companies Registration Agency.

The primary mission of this agency is to provide services for business registration and intellectual property protection.

Despite its youth, the Agency confers Intellectual Property Rights and serves as a legal repository for Business Registration and Intellectual Property information.

What Are The Functions of Pacra?

Following are the functions of this Agency;-

Administrate the various Companies & Corporate Acts.
Receive and conduct investigations of alleged or suspected infringement of the various Acts, as directed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, and prosecute offences under those Acts as directed by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Collect, compile, and disseminate legal information pertaining to the various Acts.
The Patents and Companies Registration Agency Act entails providing legal advice to the government on all matters related to companies and corporations, as well as performing all other functions associated with the performance of those functions.
